Hi, 

I’m Dr. J, truly your neighborhood nurse! Nursing has been an integral part of my life for many years. I actually started to prepare for this lifelong journey in the 8th grade. I participated in youth health programs and entered college with a focus in nursing. I received my BSN from Florida A & M University, my MSN-PH from Grand Canyon University, and my DNP-FNP from Florida State University. I worked in the acute care setting for nearly 10 years as a float nurse and on specialty units including Neurology, Oncology, and Orthopedics. I am now a professor at a local university and started Your Neighborhood Nurse, LLC to fulfill my passion of community health nursing. Born and raised here in Tallahassee, Fl I wanted to share all the knowledge I have acquired over the years in healthcare with my community to strive for a healthier tomorrow. I am dedicated to fighting the war on health disparities in my community and I believe it starts with health education.
